HIGHLANDS & COAST TOUR

The combination of snow capped mountains with a patchwork of indigenous farm fields it is something you probably only have seen it on books…..We want you to experience it firsthand and combine this experience with interacting with the indigenous in one of the most famous handicraft town in South America. We will be staying at a cozy lodge at the lake shore in the edge of an extint volcano. The tranquility and beauty of this place will set the mood for enjoying a hot coffee in front of the chimney in a cold afternoon. We will also travel to the Coast of Ecuador where we will paddle in a boat through mangroves admiring the fragile ecosystem and hundreds of birds flying by. We will enjoy typical sea food from Ecuador and watch a beautiful sunset from the boardwalk in a very calm, small and cozy city in the Pacific. As part of this great tour we will observe, learn and get a “Panama Hat” directly from talented local producers. Finally we will also visit indigenous communities such as the Tsáchilas to learn about their costumes, food, clothing, beliefs and process of adaptation to the 21st century. The tour will end in Quito, where we will visit the Colonial Downtown (declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO) and admire the churches from the colonial times (accessible).
